Well, this week was great! June 7, 2015

Hello fam!

well this week was great. we had a super interesting lesson with this couple that is dating we met a month or 2 ago. we found out they live in the New T's, so we invited a married couple from their ward to come and meet them. the couple TOTALLY took over the whole lesson and pratically taught them every lesson, etc, so S Anderson and I just couldnt even contain ourselves. i almost died laughing 10 times. but afterwards, they insisted on taking us out to eat.
they gave me some type of rice soup with boney stuff in it. as i was eating it, they told me it was frog leg! woo... i thought of the time when natalie told me that they built an underground bridge in Davis for all the frogs to safely hop through... and now I'm eating them. but after they ate, they told us not to eat TOO much frog, because they usually carry a type of worm disease in them. so fun la!

We have a lot of investigators right now, we're just working on getting them to keep commitments. commitments are so important! if we, ourselves, aren't committed to reading the bom and praying every day, then there is no way we progress in life. our investigators have never known what it's like to read God's word, or to feel the spirit, so everything is really slow. we can't just say, 'cool, will you start reading the BoM tonight?" there is NO WAY they will understand. but that's why us missionaries are here, and that's why it's so crucial for us always have the spirit with us.

Helen, out of everyone, has really been feeling it lately. she'll just close her eyes with happiness as she comes to feel the love of God more in her life. I LOVE THAT!!

i shared with mom a little bit already, but this week was pretty tough for my companion and i. the gospel is so wonderful and essential in my life. God has told me many times how prideful I really am--haha it's great; I'm learning a lot about humbling myself! for some reason, the process NEVER STOPS ;) but i know that as we keep reading His word, developing faith and love, we can overcome any trial and any weakness.
I love our Savior!

about Taco.  we've taught her a ton of times, but she's always had a 'whatever, I'm tired' attitude towards everything. just last night we read Ether 12;4 to her over the phone,  4 Wherefore, whoso believeth in God might with surety hope for a better world, yea, even a place at the right hand of God, which hope cometh of faith, maketh an anchor to the souls of men, which would make them sure and steadfast, always abounding in good works, being led to glorify God.

what does hope mean to you? what do you hope for in your life? i know that when we have a hope in Christ, He will guide us so we don't drift away, as a boat would drift away from the dock without an anchor to keep it rooted in the ground. He is our anchor in our lives. Many times, the mission has been ROUGH.  life can be ROUGH.  But because of Him, He can keep us going with faith and happiness.

After we read this, Taco said, "wow, this is good. i like this!" and then she shared why and is willing to read more of what we invite her to read. YEAH!! the scriptures are true :)

i love you all!

love, Sister Bosler

Love letters from home:

Karli!!! Are you still on? I LOVE your letters so much! Thank you for sharing your trials and challenges as well as the awesome times! You inspire me SO MUCH!!!!

Mom--

loved your letter so much!

stay strong, you can do it :)

thanks for that actually. I honestly needed to hear all of that even though that's what i share all the time. it's just really special coming from my mom.
it's been a little harder recently. i think satan is trying to get to me because of the little time i have left. my comp and i had big step backs in our companionship last week, but we're overcoming it!

i haven't received the blender package yet... it's at the postoffice in a really impossible place we get to unless we plan the whole day to go there :( so lame. I've been trying to get it, but because like you said, can't have everything the way we want it, i have to wait another 2 weeks. it's at the post office not the mission office because for some reason it needs to be signed by me.

but i reaaaaaaaally am so grateful you sent that to me! you are SOOO AWESOME!!! seriously, so nice. thank you. i've been a little worried lately, though, because honestly, the way i eat has hurt our companionship a lot. how weird is that? but I'm seriously not willing to give up the way i eat.. it's really, really sad how it's coming down to that! i just got worried a few nights ago because i thought, 'how am i EVER going to get married to someone who isn't 100% vegan?' you might start laughing at that question, and I've joked about it before, but now it really is a worry of mine. i think i have an eating problem, and my companion would 110% agree :/

but, to look at the BRIGHT side, because it's so much better than the bad side, I can't go running away from my problems or running to you. i must turn to the Lord. He is the only One who can help us know what to do to make relationships better! I'm praying a LOT and controlling myself a lot to work things out :) she is a special person-- i love her, really. she has really awesome personality traits that i don't have. heavenly father is just helping me figure out how to strip my pride and be humble! we can't change people--we can only change ourselves first. and we can change ourselves permanately, for a good purpose, in the grace of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

you're a great example to me Mom! keep on praying for guidance. never lose sight of hope! :)  4 Wherefore, whoso believeth in God might with surety hope for a better world, yea, even a place at the right hand of God, which hope cometh of faith, maketh an anchor to the souls of men, which would make them sure and steadfast, always abounding in good works, being led to glorify God.

I love you, Sister Bosler

 Party at Wilcox's - Russell's 30th b-day. What a blast! Tyler won!
Letter from Brad Wilcox: "Look up a website called Beyond 5.  This almost all LDS (four out of the five) boy band turned down a multi-million dollar record contract so they could go on missions.  Zack Love just got called to Hong Kong.  Tell Sister Bosler to watch for him.  Maybe they can sing together.  Love you, Brad"

Marisol, Christina's baby - can you believe those cheeks?
 Gratitude:

Some blessings are so big it just makes life sweet. Like our neighbors. Everyone helps each other out, we borrow eggs, get together to BBQ, court parties, plant flowers, laugh together about everything, and mow each others lawns (we try to keep up with you Brandon!) Once I locked my keys in my car and Butch saw me struggling in my driveway and he ran over with his fireman's kit to open my car door! I rang Matts doorbell early this morning and he helped me power wash my patio with his pressure washer. Matt is always there for everyone-helping out and laughing with his loud, fun voice. Cathy and Brandon hang out with us like we are their age! Lol Fred is our cheerful corner watchman- eyeing all newcomers to make sure they're safe. And even though our dear friends the Morales' have moved to Buck Ave, we still are best of friends and their roots will always be here- Stonegate neighbors!

Our new neighbors own a yoga studio in SF. Matt's family.

Cathy & Brandon Boicelli our wonderful friends and neighbors!

Dearest Karli,

How are you? I love you. I am so excited about Cinny!!! She got baptized! Wow that must be hard with her family against it, which means she certainly has a true testimony! I always admire people that can do that – how hard! Because the gospel is all about families! But eventually many of them end up getting baptized too.

I didn't know you had a Filipino companion? Maybe you were on splits! But you both met Yolanda Ng - how is she doing? Don't you love that last name?? Lol! Ng. Love it❤️ One of the missionaries that we met in DC in Jason's ward had that last name too.

How is Venus Chan??? Did she like coming to church!? I like how you say God's timing and arrangement is so perfect. It's true.

How is learning the Chinese characters? Do you need me to send you the flashcards that bishop Chan gave me? Haha

I think my favorite experience that you shared in your last letter was the two hours of "consecrated finding" – where nothing can get in the way of your success. I thought it was so great that you set it in advance, prayed about it, and put a lot of faith into it but still when those two hours were up you were so hot and really had no "success."

That is definitely sometimes how I feel about certain situations in my life right now. The Mormon cliché – "overcoming the trial of faith!" Because as hard-working people who always want the best for others as well as ourselves, we are willing to work hard and do anything to achieve that. But it may not be God's will at the time. The only, and I mean only, lesson to be learned and applied, is to have an eye single to the glory of God and give our hearts to Him. Everything else will somehow fall into place, if not in this life then it will in the next.

I have learned there's so many things in life that we just really can't control. And that is probably good. We are not really in control of anything. I remember one time Wael telling me, "Can you imagine if everyone in the world had their own way all the time? This whole world would've been blown up long ago and every single person on the planet would be dead." Lol

I said, "Yeah, that's just if mean and hateful people had their own way." But then what if righteous people only had their own way? So everyone was good and perfect all the time? Well, that is Satan's plan!

The only thing we have complete control over is our own will. We can give our hearts, minds, and soul to our Heavenly Father earnestly seeking His will in our lives. That is the only way to feel real happiness and to defend ourselves against the "bullets" that come our way.

I once heard in a class that it's really hard to qualify for the telestial kingdom. You would have to cheat, lie, murder, steal etc and love it. Most of us have too much light of Christ and the desire to progress and be better people to feel comfortable in that kingdom.

But the speaker said the only qualification we need to be worthy of entering the celestial kingdom is to "feel His spirit" every day. I thought at first that that was just too simple! But the more I thought about it, the more I realized that in order to truly feel the spirit we need to pray, repent, read the Scriptures, ask for his guidance,
think about the words that come out of our mouths, act as the Savior would towards others, serve, go to the Temple, be baptized, – all the things that enable the spirit to be with us and to help us be happy and have joy. It sounds like a LOT but really it's just becoming that way.

Sharing scriptures in my studies this morning:Jacob 2:8

***Serving Becky's amazing pies - crusts made with coconut oil. Fresh apples. Yum!

From Karli:he is so handsome. i want to talk to that boy for ever all day every day. (tyler). he is so cool.
i can't believe matthew is a DEACON wow!

haha so fun!

man, Bailey is going to be an awesome mom! haha they are so fun :)

***Matthew becomes a Deacon - Is this the cutest picture or what???

***Tyler was so excited to go to church in Mindi's ward as he and all of his cousins love the Studio C show. I had never seen it and so Connor made sure that I saw several of the funniest episodes before we went over to Whitney and Steve's house. LOL

They are such a nice and fun couple and they also have fainting goats which were hysterical! Every time they get a little bit scared they faint. But maybe they'll grow out of it like Kaitlin did! LOL JK

Feeding the goats weed(s)

At Steve & Whitneys (Mindi's ward)

Also I just have to say that Bailey was really watching out for Tyler when he checked into EFY. She came with us to check in, and introduced him to some of her friends that are super cute and nice and once we got into the all-boys-dorm at heritage Hall's, she unpacked his suitcase and put all of his clothes away and organized everything! LOL

So even though Tyler went without a roommate, he got off to a great start – thank you Bailey!

sap saai!!!!! :) :) May 31, 2015

I'm emailing you right now completely SOAKED - because we just went hiking with my favorite Sister Dunbar and our bishop's daughter Sister Cheung at Lion Rock. and then the rain storm hit us.... we even saw it in the distance coming over the buildings in Hong Kong toward us! haha too great... i seriously love Hong Kong. i want to take you all on this hike I went on, and to meet all the people i love so much.

well guess what, remember Pok Fu Lam? Well, that area has been killing it lately! I don't know if you remember me talking about Cinny a lot, but she finally got baptized last week!!!! :D :D :D her parents completely objected 2 weeks before her date back in January, but she made it this time. i love this work :)

weeeeeeell what happened this week? SO MUCH! :) a couple weeks ago on exchanges, me and my Filipino companion found a cute pregnant mom named Yolanda Ng on the street. um it is my DREAM to teach a family--especailly a pregnant mom! haha i know that sounds so silly, but i just know how much this gospel blesses families!

anyway, we've met with Yolanda a few times already, and she even met with us on her 2nd anniversary night for a few minutes! she's amazing. she wants a good path for her children to follow. the gospel her answer to all her desires and questions!

also, as we were finding one day, we got a call from a potential we found the other day named Venus Chan. she said, 'hi, can i come to church with you?' hmm let me think... ah! YES! but the funny thing is, neither Sister Anderson or I could not remember who Venus is. even after we kept meeting with her, we still can't remember where we found her or what we even talked about! it's a miracle she called us. God's timing and arrangement is so perfect.

i finally can start learning chinese characters now! WOO!!!!

this week, all in one day, we taught a chinese woman who was raised in Jamaica, a Malaysian woman in her home, an Indonesian woman at the church, a Hong Kong woman on the street, and a Japanese mom and son on the street. HONG KONG IS SO AMAZING!!!!!! i love all these different cultures and experiences we get to see!

We had an interesting experience on the street this week. our mission president challenged us to have 2 hours of 'consecrated finding'--where nothing can get in the way of it. we set it in advance, prayed about it, and put a lot of faith into it. those 2 hours came up and Sister Anderson and I were so pumped up to find the prepared person the Lord was going to help us find. as we got to the area we were going to find in, we kind of laughed because of the extreme temperatures that day, but we knew nothing could get in the way of finding this new investigator! an hour went by, and literally no one talked to us. okay, a 14 year old girl stopped for a second but then ran away. and then the next hour past by, with really no success. after the 2 hours, we stopped to pray, get some water, and evaluate the miracles that happened..... but nothing happened. why? we put SO much faith into that 2 hours! yet literally, both of us admitted, it was the hardest, most unsuccessful 2 hours of our experience finding on the mission. why, in the midst of all our faith, was there so little success? as i continued to ponder about it, we continued on finding. that night, we talked to multiple families on the street and scheduled some people. we saw miracles. as the day ended, i learned a great lesson.
it's called overcoming a trial of faith! it's one of the mormon cliches, but it's so true. sometimes, we may expect a huge miracle, and put so much faith in. but we'll end up having to face the hardest, worst experience of our lives. it's not until we keep going, with an eye single to glory of God, when He will reward us in the end.
never give up! God hears your prayers, He is so mindful of us all. With patience, persistence, and righteous actions, God will provide us a way to win in the end. He loves us so much!

I love this gospel so much. I love serving here in Tai Po! :) our teaching pool is bigger than ever before, things are picking up here. Thank you for your prayers and faith.
Please remember, the greatest action of love is through sharing the gospel with your friends and family. David O McKay, a prophet of the Lord, even says so :)
who do you love that needs the fulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in their lives?

i love you all!

love, Sister Bosler

look at that view. gotta keep my yoga poses up ;)
see that cloud behind me and Sister Anderson? yup, that's what hit us :D

My Family is just so fun & awesome! May 25, 2015

hi!

so sorry, i lost track of time this week looking at pictures!! my family is just so fun and awesome!

I honestly missed Memorial Day. Memorial Day here is actually a holiday here, Buddha's birthday. hm... yup, definitely not in America anymore. But, i'm grateful for all of our incredible, selfless veterans and active duty who sacrifice so much for our country, our freedoms, and our families. nothing is more important. I love how much the church is centered on families and freedom. God's plan for us is so perfect.

today we had black rain!!!! but whenever it rains insanely, miracles  happen big time. we taught an investigator this morning (she's back from taiwan! woo!) and it started POURING towards the end of the lesson. outside started even flooding! But then we decided to pray with her and ask God for it to stop raining so we could all go home, and my comp and i could go to the temple. we prayed, my comp offered it, and i was BEGGING HF that the rain would stop.... IT LITERALLY DID!!! only 3 minutes later!! Heavenly Father is  so awesome. the elders in our district were 20 minutes late for our session because of black rain though. the president came in and told us we can't leave the temple until it stops. AWESOME! :D wouldn't want to be anywhere else!

this week i had many physical trials, which was different than normal. but, even in the midst of all that, Heavenly Father still provides a way. i am SO happy. I love doing His will. I love you all!

please know i am always praying for you!

Love, Sister Bosler

I'm still thinking about how much fun it was and how awesome it was to talk to you on Mother's Day!
As you know Tyler's school went to DC for their 8th grade trip. So I got tickets for dad and I and thought it would be fun to also go to DC and visit Jason!
Yesterday we went to the national archives, the Smithsonian, the Lincoln Memorial, etc but my favorite of all was the DC Temple and the visitor center. I think it has to be one of the most beautiful temples and especially visitor centers in the whole world.

Isaac's baptism today.***

YAY!!!!!! SO HAPPY!!!! congratulations Isaac!!!

We all went to the canyon last night- just five minutes from the Smoots. It is beautiful weather right now! We  attended Mindi's awesome ward today where two of the Studio C cast are (Whitney and Steve) and we finally got to meet them. They are just as FUNNY in real life! They invited us over after church so we are headed there now. We get to see their new goats. Ha ha

Hello lovely fam :) May 17, 2015

Hello lovely fam :)

guess who we got to see this week... Nancy! The malaysian woman we love so much. The international elders (who live all the way in Wanchai on the Island) have had a hard time scheduling so they asked us to stop by.
We had the greatest time with her! Every time, the spirit is so strong. It was like coming home when we were with her and teaching her. Towards the end of our visit, she told us she read the Restoration pamphlet, but hasn't had a chance to read the Book of Mormon and feels so bad. I don't blame her though, she has a 9 month baby and it's just so hard to even get a chance to read as a mom. So she asked us, "do you sisters mind if you could just come by more often and read some of the Book of Mormon with me and explain it to me?" hmm let me think... ;) gosh she is so great. her belief in God is coming. She wants something deeper in her life, for her family. We love her so much. Heavenly Father's plan is so perfect.

Bobo got a calling!!! WOO!! she was so excited.

Oh, so we taught Helen again. She's  the one who believes in Confuscios' ...douhleih (english word? idk). we've known her for 3 months now, and we still haven't gotten past the restoration with her. but at this last meeting we asked her, "helen, do you believe God is your Heavenly Father?" she said she BELIEVES!! And she truly believes Jesus Christ is her Savior! We asked her how she felt at the baptism last week, and she admired the devotion of Stella. Finally, we asked her again to be baptized. and this time she closed her eyes and  said " 我会." with a smile. meaning, 'i will!' YES!!! the gospel changes lives. when she first met with us, we introduced her to some members and she didn't say a word. now, she runs up to people she hasn't met and gives them hugs. i love our Heavenly Father!

We had our last zone conference with President and Sister Hawks before they leave. I have pages in my study journal written of how they have influenced my life because of the people they are. They are true Christians. They are true disciples of God. I love them so much. One thing that President Hawks has taught me is a principle that is in The Book of Mormon: learning how to act and not be acted upon. I have had trainings on this since my first few months in the field, and I finally understand how it applies to MY life, and not just our investigators.
We cannot be careless in our covenants with God. We must be obedient. There is no other way, It must become a part of us. How can we learn to follow the spirit of the law if we can't obey the law in the first place? As we do all we can to love and understand obedience, then we are able to have the influence of the Holy Ghost in our lives. then, and only then, are we able to follow the spirit of the law.
I thought of a simple example in my life: the way I eat. When I was 16 years old, I decided I want to eat healthy. And i've stuck to it. No matter what, even if it's someone's birthday, or MY birthday, I won't lower my standard of eating. Even when everyone else is eating sweets, I won't, because i have an understanding of how eating healthy blesses my life. Because of this way of living, when I got on my mission, I am able to in a way follow the 'spirit of the law' and eat things that don't follow my diet at member's home, but still stick to what I know to be true. I realized that's the way keeping our covenants with God is. We must learn to act, and not be acted upon. Let obedience to our Heavenly Father become a part of you. Love it, understand it. Realize the blessings He always, always gives you! This life is a time to succeed, to grow, to become like our loving Heavenly Father.
Sister Hawks shared with us her "last testimony." She told us 4 principles that have changed her life:
Pray with your family.
Read the Book of Mormon with your family.
Live obedience.
Keep your covenants.

I know those 4 simple principles will give us strength to overcome trials. They will give us love and help us learn forgiveness. And evenmore, they will give us eternal happiness.

i love you all so much! don't forget how much God loves you!

MOM!!! THANK YOU FOR THE PICTURES!!! I LOVE THEM! our family is so amazing. I'm going to the post office today to pick up a package, it might be from you!

i love you so much!

love, Sister Bosler

Hi family,

Tyler is excited about graduating from middle school and it’s a really nice event outdoors in the football field (like WCW).  He will have a part in it since he is student-body VP and has a 4.0. He’s already ordered spiderman suspenders and bow tie and not sure what else but he has to keep it formal. He and his friends have something fun up their sleeves.

Refreshments are served but we can have everyone over for lunch afterwards.

Some of you live too far but just want you to know about it. There are lots of activities preceding graduation so it’s a really busy month for all. Tyler’s heading to DC May 22-26 and may get to see Jason!

Graduation:

Date: Friday, May 29th
Time: 9:30-11:00 AM
Place: Vacaville Christian School Football Field  - 821 Marshall Road
Lunch at 830 Stonegate Court following!

I can’t believe he’s going to be in high school!

can't wait
