Merry Christmas!! (Dec 21st, 2014)

I can't believe how much Hong Kong people really celebrate Christmas!! It's so exciting!

We had a big music activity in Wanchai  this saturday and our ward wanted us missionaries to sing with them. it was SO fun! And what's even cooler, is that some choirs even sang "Fum Fum Fum" and "Dance Then!" total Madrigal flash back- i was so happy! and then they even had a BELL TABLE OUT! and i started getting so excited and told my companion I used to play bells and....well, her reaction was the same as Tod's basically ;) haha she's brought it up plenty times already since Saturday haha!

I've never felt as much love or given as much love than this past week. Haha our ward is the greatest ever! Last night we went to Bishop's house and brought our investigator Ms Chou and she brought her 24 year old son! Super cool! She had us talk to her daughter on the phone, too, and now they'll be coming to our Christmas party! Anyway, Ms Chou asked if we had an extra Book of Mormon, and she, herself, gave it to her son and started explaining it! so awesome. (haha she started explaining it though because she loves the picture of Moroni in it.... she talks about his picture a lot.. she's the funniest investigator i've ever had. every time I'm with her she gets my dying laughing!)
At Bishop's house, we shared a message, played a game with sign language (seriously SO fun), and then Bishop asked me to sing the first 2 verses of Silent Night, following with everyone joining in after. ah the spirit was so strong! The biggest thing I've been learning on this mission is the love of Christ. I was reading in Ether 12 and found a verse that stuck out to me a lot. Moroni prayed the Gentiles would be able to have the grace of God so that they can feel his love. Love is centered around the Atonement of Jesus Christ! I'm so grateful, too, because I have the opportunity to serve as Sister Training Leader! It's been such an incredible experience already! I love serving missionaries.

ITS BEEN SOOOO FUN opening 12 days of Christmas!!!! My companion almost cried when she saw you gave HER a stocking too! you are SOOO Awesome!! I Love you!!

Us with Sister Wan at church last sunday :) she loved how Christmasy we were!

At Bishop Chan's :) I love these people.  I Love this work. I truly am happy.

Love, Sister Bosler

wow, those pictures are the greatest. haha family forever! I love you all! Cutest manger scene ever!

Game night! Levi won!

The kids saw Grandma kissing Santa Claus!
The boys got legos but the Head Lamps were a huge hit!

The Season of Love (December 14th, 2014)

Hi fam!! :)

First thing: A member in our ward, Sister Yu, is coming to Vacaville!!! haha she has dad's number, so keep your phones on! She wants to say hi and has something for you I guess! We just visited them a couple weeks ago and they're AMAZING. Her daughter, Winkie, is leaving for a mission in the middle of this week, and we were pretty close because she would help us with missionary work a LOT. She would love to see you! and she speaks Mandarin, so have fun with that, dad! :) (And english and Cantonese). please give her something(NOT A CD OF ME. thanks ;) )--she's making an effort to see you, members here are so thoughtful. i can't wait for you to meet a member from the best ward ever!! :) She has dad's info :)

Well it's been another wonderful week! SO you know how almost every week I talk about the amazing Sister Chan Yiu Wa (deaf one)? well-- I love her even more. gaaaah she's amazing. she seriously threw a whole surprise birthday party for me after church yesterday! Sister Lee (deaf) made me a strawberry cheesecake, and Sister Chan had gotten everyone in the ward to sign a card. live lucky life! ;) so cute. i  love the way she texts english so much. anyway, yesterday i just started crying out of love because everyone just kept hugging me, sharing so much love, and just being so thoughtful.
honestly, the greatest thing i have been learning here is love. Because of the Atonement and grace of Jesus Christ, I've been learning a much deeper, powerful love than I have ever felt. one that's really hard to express because it's so personal--between me and mySavior. And then, with that love, and I find myself doing all I can--every second of the day, to help others feel that same love. And then, working together, with the members, that love grows even more because of their selflessness and their dedication to God. On this mission, I've been learning how to truly change myself and sacrifice the little but big things to learn how to love even more. I seriously can't even express how much I love the members of this ward. And the even better part is, every day I find myself thinking how much I love my companion Sister Richardson! I am so grateful for her.
If you are having troubles learning to love someone, turn to the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Change yourself. Ask God with all your might to help you know what to do and have the strength and power to do it--and He will provide the way--if you are willing to accept it. Of course it won't be an overnight, instant change--it will be a challenge! But that is the lesson we all must learn. He knows your frustrations and your desires. He wants to help, so let him :)

Speaking of love, my heart broke a couple times this week! Cinny finally built up the courage to tell her parents about baptism. They completely freaked out. She isn't allowed to meet with us anymore, and wants to respect her parents. She told us she will always read the Book of Mormon and pray... we are praying she won't give up. Luckily, she has a good relationship with quite a few members, and she keeps in contact with us. But it's been hard this week, because first Marlo, then Cinny, and now some of our less actives are becoming RE less active. It is SO hard to see people fall away from the gospel of Jesus Christ--or are forced to fall away because of other reasons. This past week has led me to think many times "why would the Lord let this happen?" But i'm always humbled when I remember: I am here to be an instrument in His hands. This is the Lord's time, not mine! I know He loves every one of us, so these people definitely will have a way to find the gospel again. I'm grateful for the opportunity to help them, and especially to serve the Lord.

Miracles did happen like always! We were less active finding, when we met a super awesome woman who invited us over! (NEVER HAPPENS HERE). she is taking the lessons and said how she's amazed because she has never seen us missionaries here in Wah Fu. She truly knows that this is God's hand! she explained how much she misses Jesus, and kept thanking us for helping her. it was the coolest thing to be thanked by someone. she understands our purpose, and she's learning hers. we are so excited! Ms Chau! pray for her! also had an opportunity to teach a father/minister at our church. never had that situation yet--it was SO COOL! love this!

*my birthday party :)
*in this pic, Sister Chan is next to me, and she is signing "happiness."
I LOVE YOU ALL! Merry Christmas! :)

I made this Chinese dish with Mia, the Mandarin girl last p day! It was SO Fun!

...but then that night i threw up a ton. haha we were finding and i was doing all i could to not throw up on people as we were coming up to them.

as we were taking the mini bus home, i ended up yelling to the bus driver to pull over bc I'm going to throw up! haha I'm glad i did….

(Note from Karli when we sent a picture of Tyler taller than his mom):  YOU ARE KIDDING ME HE IS NOT!!!!!! WHAT THE HECK??!?!?! Wow. I'm dying!!! looks so fun mom!

i love you!

From mom:

Hi Karli!!

Merry Christmas!!!  I hope you are having the most joyous season!!!

I listened to the First Presidency's Christmas message - did you get to hear that by any chance? Oh, I DO hope you get to hear it. The whole thing made me cry! From start to finish.
We need to head to the Messiah soon so this will be short again, but today our ward wrote hand written notes to you as you were the featured missionary!!  Yay!!

I hope you are having fun opening your 12 days of Christmas packages. Know how much we love you each day til Christmas and then we get to talk to you!!! We will be at Grandma Thomas's house, so just call my cell and we will all be so excited and waiting to talk to you. Oh, Karli. We can't wait. I just loved your letter to me so much. I really cried and will save it forever. Always know that a love note is the best gift by far.

Wish me luck tonight. I was sick with a cold and couldn't sing for two weeks and last night suddenly I could!!!!!  It was amazing. Ive felt so happy today, knowing that Heavenly Father really wants me to sing tonight.

And what better song in the whole world is there than "I Know That My Redeemer Liveth?"  Wow.
I love you, and … "talk" to you soon!!

Love,

Mom

From Brandon Woolf:
Karli is adorable.

From Stephanie Angst:
So great to hear how happy she is!  I can't wait and am excited for her to call you on Christmas, haha!  Seriously, you all must be so excited to hear from her!!
Thanks again for including me on these beautiful letters.
Steph

From Wael:

Karli looks so beautiful, happy, and she is being loved so much by everyone she comes in contact with. She feels like a part of a huge family away from home. I am so happy for her. I love her so much!

Birthday Gifts! :) - December 8th, 2014

THANK YOU SO MUCH EVERYONE!!! Wow-- I had so many birthday wishes today! You are all the best! :) I wish I had time to email everyone back, but just know I am so grateful for all of you and your kindness! Thank you thank you!

Well, you know what's crazy? My trainer is home! Sister Cheung! I miss her. (I hope you're stalking my blog sister Cheung and reading this! ;) ) But honestly, her testimony, fire, and energy is still the best example to me. I'm so grateful for her happiness!

So on Sunday morning, Dec 7th, I woke up thinking the same thing I always think, "what am I grateful for today?" and I thought, "yay! Cindy is coming to church again! oh!! Grace is getting baptized! Yay!" and THEN I thought, "oh yeah- it's my birthday?!" That little moment in the morning was such a special moment for me. Sister Smith's bday was Dec 2, and she would say, "I really just want to become such a consecrated missionary that I forget my own birthday." I love this work. I'm grateful to lose myself in the service of God. It's life changing!

But, Sunday was awesome. it was fast sunday! WOO! that means extra miracles and more dedication and faith! it was great. we got a lot of time to go finding on the streets, but I truly feel like Heavenly Father blessed us in so many ways (the best birthday gifts!!). Sister Richardson and I found ourselves laughing SO hard many times on the street yesterday! Building our relationship, seeing miracles, and meeting just the funniest people. One girl we met is obsessed over the elders. she's never approached them, but wants to meet them so bad. Sister Richardson and I just kept trying as hard as we could to bear testimony and make our purpose of the restored gospel clear, but she kept interrupting asking, "are they dating anyone? do they date? how to foreigners find their boyfriends?" and oh man, my answer was so bad but honestly true, "through church!" ....she's coming to church.... haha Sister Richardson and i never laughed so hard after this contact.

When we got home, we made a dinner together, listened to Christmas music, and that night, I opened my package! From YOU and from grandma! ahhh i love everything-- thank you SOOOOO MUCH!!!!!! I can't believe how kind and thoughtful you are! I went to bed literally just SO happy-- so happy to work hard, spread the gospel, have fun, and feel so much love from my family. thank you all. :) Church was incredible, too. I feel like another birthday gift from God was how much I felt the spirit. Sister Chan (deaf one) bore her testimony with a translator. I was bawling. BAWLING. That woman has changed my life forever, and I am dead serious. Missionary work is the number one priority in her life. She does everything to help the Lord. Her planner is almost busier than ours ;) the deaf section in our ward has flourished--because of her. Grace Lee just got baptized this sunday, and she is also deaf. I love her to pieces. Member missionary work is true. Don't forget the responsibilty we all have as members! hate to break it to ya, but missionary work is so much more than feeding the elders once a month.

Well... I have some sad news. Wednesday, Marlo texted us. Her husband said if she continues coming to church, he will leave her. and that's that. The gospel is SO important, but our focus is eternal families. there is no way we would ever even dream of hurting their relationship. however, we will never stop praying and fasting for her. with a heavy heart, i keep wondering, "WHY did the Lord have us meet her? how can someone with THAT much faith not be allowed to follow Him?" at moments like this, I remember how small I am, and how great, all-knowing, all-powerful, and all merciful and loving Heavenly Father is. His plan is perfect. We are all His literal children, and He loves us each so much. I know everything will work out for Marlo :) God is too loving to have it go any other way. It's all just according to His time.

fun news!! Today we are going to a salad shop-- WOO!! and fro yo!! and then later in the afternoon, we'll be going to that Mandarin potential named Mia and spending a few hours with her. she is so cute and really just wants to be with us :) i love the relationships we get to build on missions!

oh, shout out to Sister Dunbar's mom! THANK YOU! we love our apartment! we have a mini christmas tree, decorations, and even the scent of pine cones. I smell sylvyville every time I go to bed. LOVE IT :)

Have a merry christmas everyone! It's the season where we can truly remember our Savior and His love for us! I am so grateful to spend this December serving Him and sharing about Him :)

LOVE YOU!

Love always,
 Sister Bosler

Pictures: Pillow case from Grandma, cute Santa in our home! and Grace Lee's baptism! all the woman in PFL and ABD. :) much love here in HK! :)

From Donna Suchoski: She just bursts with joy and love!

From MOM:
Karli.

So one night last week, actually it was your birthday, I was missing you so much and thinking of you and about to go get ready for bed after doing the dishes. All of a sudden at 9PM the doorbell rang. It had been pouring rain all day and was still so dark and wet and I thought, "Who could be coming over this late?" And though the side window, I could see that it was Bill, our postman. I opened the door, and he looked so tired. I said, "Oh, my gosh, Bill! What are you doing here so late?"

And he responded, "I hate my job." He told me that his hours were so long and he was so tired and on and on. I tried to help him see that he was appreciated and had a good retirement and he might as well enjoy his work because you never know what will happen in life. MIght as well enjoy the journey, right? Then he pulled your package out of his bag. "Well, this is for you - it looks like it came all the way from Hong Kong."

I was so excited I was screaming!  Bill left, knowing he had done a very good deed for the day!! I ripped open the box and saw all of your cute Christmas gifts for everyone and OH, it was just so sweet!!!! Then I saw your card and read it over about 10 times and that's the BEST gift you could EVER give me!!!! I love you so much. Your card was like a tender mercy and I just can't tell you what perfect timing that was. Karli. You are just the BEST. I hope you know how much I love you and that I will always try and be the best mom and friend I can ever be to you. Wow. I am so lucky. So blessed beyond measure!!!  Thank you with all of my heart.

I will write more tomorrow but tonight I am going to bed and saying my prayers in gratitude for such a beautiful daughter.

Another miracle: I've been sick for two weeks (cold) and tomorrow night I am soloing in the Messiah in Oakland. ON Temple Hill. Even this morning I couldn't sing. So tonight I prayed and then decided to practice one more time and I don't sound sick AT ALL anymore!! I can't wait to sing tomorrow night!!!

I love you Karli. You are an angel in all of our lives. Especially mine.

Hugs, Mom

I like you, I love you! (November 30th, 2014)

Helllllloooo!!!

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! haha first, last p day, i got a call from the mission president's WIFE saying she has a stuffing recipe for me from my mom! haha i about died. my parents are famous here in the mission, that's all I can say... haha oh man.

Anyway, we made an awesome stuffing! we made it with West Point elders, haha and they got the wrong spices, so it tasted like pizza stuffing ;) haha it was great though!

Thanksgiving was a blast-- we got to eat with missionaries for a couple hours, and then teach. it was wonderful. I feel so grateful every day!

We seriously had such a FUN week! The ward is becoming my family for sure. people are now coming up to me with worried expressions saying, "sister Bosler, you're not leaving right?" :) no way. never! but last saturday night, we invited an investigator to come to a wedding reception in our ward. She loved it so much. actually, that was downplayed. I LOVED IT SO MUCH! haha especially because the bride is Chinese, and her husband is AFRICAN! who speaks french! so they both speak their 2nd language together, english. oh man, it was the best thing of our lives. haha especially their vows.. so happy! During his vows, he would say in the cutest accent, "even if we have 1 million dollas, or if we homeless, i like you, i love you, i love you, i love you." hehe so cute and unique. and then he even gave a shout out to the missionaries! He's getting baptized on the 14th of December so they can be sealed in the temple for eternity! It was soooo cute and awesome! Now THAT'S missionary work. Our investigator, Cinny, is seriously incredible though. we taught her towards the end of the reception and as we talked about faith, she said, "i feel like this church is good, and true. because as i look at everyone, their smiles are so happy. it must be right." I'm so grateful Cinny has figured out for herself the purpose of this gospel: happiness! All good things are of Christ, and she's just realizing it. last week, she quit her job so she could come to church! she came this week and loved it. keep praying for Cinny!

One of my favorite things about the culture in Hong Kong is their love for food. they even have their own version of the word of wisdom--no joke. last week, a member was teaching and said, "eat more veggies, eat less meat, eat more rice..." haha of course the rice. whenever they say they're going to eat, no matter what the meals associate with "are you going to eat rice?" haha it makes me laugh. they also eat so messy and with their hands, and just throw the bones of whatever on the table. i didn't realize how much my manners have changed until my trainee keeps pointing out things that i do too now that the chinese do! so sorry family, my manners are terrible now!

about Marlo... ah! she is incredible! i say this every week, but when she prays, she is truly talking to our Father in Heaven. Every time her prayers bring me tears. Poor thing though, her husband is so extremely stubborn and will not let her get baptized. there's no way she can without his agreement, especially since families are so central in the gospel. it makes me so sad. her baptismal date is the end of this month, so pray for her husband to open his heart!

We had another super cool experience on the street. we met a guy from Napol! And he literally hasn't even heard of Adam and Eve, didn't even know about "a babe in bethlehem" and so our first lesson with him was SO cool. he is excited about learning more about the Christian religion. he said, "i feel like this is really good, because as I look at these pictures (of members and Christ on our walls) I see happiness, and good things." moral of this week: the gospel brings pure happiness. I'm so grateful for our Savior Jesus Christ and for His love for us. I'm so grateful He so perfectly completed God's will for us, so that we can receive strength from on high and return to live with God again in pure joy. I'm so grateful for the spirit, I'm so grateful for this opportunity to change and use the Atonement more. I love this! I Love you!

Happy December! :)

Love, Sister Bosler

and here's the lovely couple :D  so great huh! love it!!!!

lunch today with my favorite person in the world: Sister Smith. she's been my roommate since the beginning and she leaves for home this week :(
she's the most incredible example because even though she's dying on the mission, she still has more mission fire than anyone i know! i love her and am so grateful for her example!

This week has been so wonderful! Very Grateful this Thanksgiving! (November 23rd, 2014)

Hi! :)

This week has been SOOOO WONDERFUL!!!! Me and Sister Richardson having been learning so much, and working so well together.

First of all, I just want to say how happy and grateful I was yesterday. Bishop asked me to bear my testimony during Sacrament! WOO! I loved having that opportunity. As I looked at the ward, I remembered my very first sunday in Hong Kong, with my testimony written on a peace of paper in my hands, my speech slow and very robotic. And I remember looking at all these Asians who all looked the same....freaking out. Haha. Well then this time, as I looked out at all of them, I saw each person I love so much, and saw how much this ward has grown, too. Wow, it was incredible. I saw people who sacrifice much of their time to help the Lord in sharing His gospel, I saw leaders who have taught me SO much through their selfless example, I saw those who are developing faith to come back to church, those who are just finding out what this gospel even is all about. And it was such a beautiful moment! This ward truly has grown, and I'm so grateful for the opportunity to serve and love them. During Relief Society, our teacher, Sister Tong, put up a picture of 2 happy girls, and started saying how they reminded her of me and Sister Richardson, and kept going on and on about the happiness of sister missionaries and their love for people. Then Sister Wan started commenting about all we've done to help the ward, and after that, people kept coming up to us, thanking us, and even giving us food. (you guys- I ate a whole piece of some kind of coconut pie! aw man.) hahaha. I just couldn't get over how grateful I felt to be able to help Pok Fu Lam! I keep praying I'll be here for a long time, because I really have a family here. These members in the ward strengthen each other, love each other, and help each other come closer to Christ. Moroni 6 to the dot! :) I love it here. I'm so grateful God has let me serve Him in this area.
oh! I even saw Helen yesterday and she ran up to me and hugged me forever. And guess what-- I understood her!!! WHAT?!?! Haha it was SO cool! Yesssssssssss!!!!!

I'm so grateful for all the love the Lord has allowed me to feel and to express. I love these people!!!! :) :) :) But the most important thing, I truly love my Savior, Jesus Christ. His Atonement helps me everyday. I know God hears our prayers. He has answered mine over and over again. I invite you all to re-find your testimony of our Savior. You will be amazed by how God will always answer you, again and again.

LOVE YOU! Happy Thanksgiving! :)

Love, Sister Bosler
PS  hi mom!!! do you have an easy stuffing recipe?? need it now haha!!! our thanksgiving is depending on this recipe! ;)

Note from mom:

Yes I do!! Ok put one onion and 2 cups of diced celery in a pan with one stick of butter and sauté. Then you can add a variety of things if you would like. (Like mushrooms, sausage, apples, artichokes, seafood, chestnuts, etc. but I just like it with onions and celery.)
After the vegetables are tender – Chris, add 2 cups of chicken broth to a stuffing mix. I just use a 12 ounce bag of Pepperidge Farms bread cubes that are already seasoned. If you don't have any kind of stuffing mix in Hong Kong, then you have to cut an entire loaf of white bread up into tiny cubes and let dry for two or three days until they are hard as rocks. Then you would add it to the onions, celery and butter and broth and mix in a tablespoon of sage a teaspoon of salt, half a teaspoon of pepper, 1 teaspoon of thyme, and 1/2 teaspoon rosemary.
You can either stuff your turkey with it or you can just put it in a 9 x 13 pan and bake it at 350 for 40 minutes.

Notes from friends & family:

From Ann Millward:
Thanks you, Kim!
Love is bursting out all over...!

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.

Love,
Ann Millward

From Bishop Chan (Karli's bishop in Hong Kong)

Sister Bosler,

Your daughter bore a pure cantonese and spiritual uplifting testimony in our ward on Sunday, other members told me that Sister Bosler has very fluent Cantonese and choices of words, and of course we all felt her love and passion towards our investigators and the gospel, on the other hand, I also observed  she sometimes has deeper thought as a Trainer, probably thinking or worrying/rejoicing about her companion, investigators, less active members or other daily chores, I believe she is ready to be an effective instrument in the Lord Kingdom, I saw she and her companion literally attract various kinds of people into the church recently.

Thank you for your good example and your faithfulness in the gospel.  We don’t know when she will have the next transfer but we definitely desire her to stay with us longer, because she’s part of our ward and we all treasure her presence.

Fond regards,
Bishop Chan

From Wael Ali:

What an amazing human being Karli is. All your kids are so amazing. You should be so proud for raising such wonderful kids. If for nothing else you should feel you have succeeded and accomplished what any person wants the most in this life which is to raise wonderful family. The foundation if any family is the mother and your family has the best and strongest foundation.

 From Lei Putney:

Thanks, Kim, I so love to hear the joy in Karli's letters!  Also, I would
love to have your simple stuffing recipe too!  Love, Lei :)

From Grandma Thomas:
I love that girl of yours and MINE too.  She is an incredible missionary and she really is where the lord wants her to be.  Always thanks for her letters.  XXOO mom

And I Went Forth! November 19, 2014

Hello loves ! :)

I know I just emailed on thursday, but once again, so much has happened! Loving it.

1: I know I always talk about how much I love members, BUT I REALLY DO. Especially now that we can joke around and communicate better! And especially now that they trust me with people they are worried about, give us responsibilities, and have the faith to spread the gospel. love. them.

Last Sunday Angel, our LA we have been working with forever who now takes notes in church, comes to everything, and even brings food to random things! haha woo hoo! Anyway, for some reason she made her own "seui gau"--which are dumplings, and another member made "tohng seui" which is made out of bitter congee and other stuff (sometimes egg, nuts, and things i don't recognize haha). SO GOOD THOUGH. i seriously am changing here, it's crazy. I love the Chinese culture soo much! you're all missin out. ;) but then the Lord remembers to constantly humble me through ways other than sounding so silly with the language... for example, at church, i went up to go play piano, but i had just realized my foot had fallen asleep. i was sitting between 2 LAs, and so i wanted everything to run smoothly, but literally tripped and fell FOUR TIMES- twice ON one Less Active! everyone was so confused.. oh well.

Well, the other night we had an incredible lesson with an investigator we've been teaching for a few weeks now, named Cinny. I was SOOOOO PROUD of Sister Richardson, because she asked the most awesome questions that were totally inspired by the spirit! It was such a cool moment--one of those times when you witness the missionary discerning the investigator's needs, the spirit guiding the missionary, and the spirit testifying to the investigator of truth. i love love love that process. It's really special because right now we have 2 investigators who have one main question: Is this church true? I LOVE THAT QUESTION!!! I know with all my heart that if someone wants to know truth, they will find it. All they have to do is ask and search. Joseph Smith's experience is so great because he too, like millions of others, wanted truth. And he found it through searching and asking God. Our Heavenly Father is so loving and so powerful--all He wants for us is to use this tiny bit of faith or this tiny little portion of curiosity and sincerely ask if this is true or not. Many times people on the street will feel a stirring within their hearts, or they'll start crying and not know why, or they'll feel so much respect towards us--but they'll turn away from it all. Please never turn away from the promptings of the Holy Ghost! The Holy Ghost is the most precious gift the Lord has given us. It helps us know truth, feel love, feel comfort, receive power to endure, and so much more. It shows me where to go and gives me the words to say. Many times, I don't even notice the guidance of the HG until I search for it that night. I'm so grateful for this gift God has given us!

One miracle is i've been trying to listen to the Holy Ghost and discern the needs of not any investigators, but my companion. All I want to do is help her love  this work more than anything. I pray for her constantly, am aware of her constantly, because I perfectly remember how hard the beginning of a mission is here in Hong Kong, China. Last night she opened up a lot... I'm so grateful the Lord gave me the words to say and the scriptures to share in hopes of helping her. Pray for my beautiful companion Sister Richardson! She is trying SO hard! I love that about her--she's very responsible and gets the job done. And even if she is feeling sick, she'll still continue the work. What an incredible quality!! Being in a companionship you didn't pick for yourself is honestly one of the most special opportunities we have as missionaries. I LEARN SO MUCH! haha love it!

Well I'm still loving this work SO MUCH!!! Sometimes Sister Richardson thinks I'm the weirdest person ever because I get so overly excited about sharing the gospel. haha i think I get moments like that from Dad, celebrating the little, precious moments in life! :)

I LOVE YOU!! Keep reading the Book of Mormon! Try going to the asian market sometime and trying some fun asian foods. stay away from dried sardines though, i still hate that. especially when we're finding in ghetto "tsuens" and i see all these dried mushrooms and fish laying ON THE GROUND outside, waiting to be stuck in bags and sold on the street. haha nasty. so yeah, go to an asian market sometime! ;) love you!

love always, Sister Bosler

When Sister Smith and I went on exchanges, we walked up a hill instead of taking the bus, and got to see this view. LOVE IT! :)

and here's Sham Shui Po :) fun fun crazy HK!
When Sister Smith and I went on exchanges, we walked up a hill instead of taking the bus, and got to see this view. LOVE IT! :)

Dear Kim and Bruce

Congratulations on Karli's new assignment !!
I am happy to know that she is making the world a kinder place to live, and she looks always so happy.  Also nice to know she is learning the different culture and seems she is doing very well
about it.

Sorry, I have to miss your Thanksgiving dinner...

Love,  Toshie Drury

Kim,
We love to read Karli's letters! She is so great! We saw the missionaries in a Cancun ward on Sunday. It was so fun to talk to them and think about our sweet nieces on their missions.
We are having a great time! This place is so beautiful! We went to this waterpark called Xplor yesterday. It was incredible! They had dozens of zip lines, Miles of underwater caverns where you could swim paddle these little boats. They had ATV side by sides that you drive around on these trails, and an all-you-can-eat buffet with awesome food. You would have enjoyed that chia seed orange or the spinach parsley apple pineapple drink. We started the day with an awesome smoothie bar. We were so tired by the end of the day, but we slept great and Julia dragged me out of bed for yoga, and while she stayed for Zumba class I hit the pool for a great swim.
We're off, but I wanted you to know how much fun we're having and how much we appreciate you. We love you and can't wait to see you at thanksgiving or Christmas whichever one you're coming for.
Love, Derick and Julia

Thanks so much for sharing, Kim!

Karli is a precious angel passing God's thoughts wherever she goes.  As I read her words I could hear her mother's voice.  You, too, are love in action!

From MOM:

Dear Karli,

I love you so much. I already sent you a letter but wanted to include some pictures. Yesterday we had a blast taking Becky & Tim's family pictures. I have a thumb drive for them - but I just wanted to give you a little peek at these pictures. We took these at the same place that Mary took your Precious Promises CD pictures!!  And the fall leaves are just gorgeous too. I don't know which pictures Becky will choose but all I know is that all of the photos are so cute it will be very hard to pick!

After the pictures we went to "Grandma's House" and we had a Chinese Dinner with chopsticks, and all decorated up. Debi surprised me and bought a super cute centerpiece and some Chinese desserts to go along with the dinner. It was so much fun. Dad gave out his Chinese presents to the boys (the boys all loved their presents except for poor Eli. I don't know why dad gave him a pencil! LOL  He immediately said, "I don't like this one!"  And Andrew got the coolest wild light toy that spun around but it was broken even before they left!  ha ha - quality gifts from China!) Oh, and dad gave me a silk top/scarf that was pretty but if you buttoned it, your arms were in a straight jacket! Funny!

Dad had a great movie about his trip to China that we all watched. I am excited for you to see the bamboo rafting and the man that sang in Chinese. :)

Love you!!  Mom
(I don't think I can send more than three pictures or it will be too large of a file)

HAHHAHA SO FUNNy he gave Eli a pencil! haha that sounds hilarious. wow--beautiful pictures! love them!

I love you Karli!
Well, it's officially fall weather- cool and rainy. Here are some pictures from our family!

Karli,
I am so grateful for you!! I am so grateful we didn't stop at four kids!  I am so grateful that you are serving a mission in Hong Kong! I am so grateful for the Book of Mormon! I am so grateful for Bishop Knecht! I am so grateful for dad! I am so grateful that I come from such a big, loving family! I am so grateful that the atonement can heal all wounds. I am so grateful that we have Tyler at home with us! I am grateful for my health! I am grateful for my cozy bed! I am grateful I get to sing in the Messiah! I am grateful I get to go to a fireside tonight! I am grateful it's your birthday on Dec 7th and that I already am sending you a fun package tomorrow! I am grateful that I get to be chorister and teach the darling kids how to sing! I am so grateful that I always have the perfect friend in my life when I need some help or someone to talk to!
I could go on for hours!!!
You are so awesome Karli!!!
Thank you for teaching me the secret to happiness! Gratitude!!! And knowing I am a daughter of our Heavenly Father.
I don't know if you know this but Wael had a stroke.  He is in the hospital in Beirut for a month until he recovers more. He can talk and everything but he feels things much more deeply. He wrote to me and every day calls a LOT. One day I woke up to 63 missed calls. He thinks of our family like his own and really loves all of my children. He actually thinks you are all angels. So please pray for him! He really wants to get something for your birthday and so he asked me if I could.
I went to the temple last Tuesday (I'm going every Tues at 5:30 and love it) and all throughout the session I felt a little like I wonder why Heavenly Father isn't answering my prayers? And I heard the spirit whisper, "Because these two hours you are concentrating on the work that needs to be done. " But in the celestial room, I felt a down pouring so strongly of the spirit and special answers.  I know all of our lives we hear, "We are daughters of our Heavenly Father who loves us and we love him."  But after going throughout the temple, I felt, "You are a DAUGHTER of GOD, and He LOVES you. "  it was just so wonderful to feel those blessings! And to know that!!
This week was fun.  On MOnday night was Eli's bday.
Next I'm sending pictures of the China night!!
Love, Mom

Mom, I loved your letter so much! thank you for sharing what you are grateful for! Im so grateful you are going to the temple once a week. that is seriously so important! I love that! Heavenly Father truly notices our sacrfice to set aside things of the world and set these times to put Him first; especially through temple attendance, daily study and prayer, and church service. love it. we are so lucky to have temples! i love that so much. its crazy because I pretty much had the same experience in the temple last week haha!
you are sending me a bday package??! haha wow i can't believe you! You are so thoughtful! Ive been going crazy over those cacao smoothies. they have cheap soy milk here, so i eat cacao nibs with soy milk and oats... so yum. i loooove it. thanks for everything. i love you! thank you for putting the gospel first! Love, Sister Karli Bosler

"I can't believe my life!" November 12th, 2014

WOOOWW. i still can't believe my life! I still can't believe I am a missionary! The mission is special because every day I learn an insane amount; whether it's a life lesson, a gospel question answered, more language vocab, how to become a better teacher, and even how to change. I love having this time to learn so much and progress!

SO much has happened though. We put on an activity last night where we took 2 days of meal times to prep sugar cookies so that we could all make them at the activity. haha man i love the chinese, because most people didn't even like them! they thought were too sweet!! haha i just LOVE this culture! amen to that. but it turned out really successful, we had a lot of people come! and the members were soooo great at fellowshipping and even scheduled 2 family home evenings with 2 different investigators! those. are. the BEST!

Pok Fu Lam is requiring a LOT of faith right now. our ward has been fasting for 40 days (a family/person a day) and we have seen the effects for sure. but we just need to put in a LITTLE more effort! We taught Marlo yesterday and her faith is as strong as ever. it's still her husband though. pray that his heart will soften please!!!

but I just wanted to let you all know that one thing i've learned this week is how powerful gratitude is. I am so grateful. I am grateful I am me. I am grateful God trusts me. I am grateful I am His representative. I am grateful I get to work with Sister Richardson. I am grateful for these members in Pok Fu Lam. I am grateful someone made me eat a fried whole fish with eggs in it last night. I'm grateful I hate sugar cookies. I am grateful for blenders. I am grateful for Octopus Cards. I am grateful for nutrition. I am grateful Mom never let me eat puddings/gushers in my lunches at home. I am grateful for the temple. I am grateful Ruby called us back.I am grateful for PohPos on long finding days (the old women who sit all over HK and just smile and white girls who can speak Cantonese) I am grateful to have this challenge of learning Cantonese. I am grateful for Hong Kong. I am grateful for work ethic my parents taught me. I am grateful I have trained for and ran a marathon.  I am grateful for miracles. I am grateful I love music. I am grateful for the guidance of the Holy Ghost. I am grateful I got called too obedient and too optimistic. I am grateful to finally have investigators to stress over and pray over. I am grateful to change. I am grateful for you. I am grateful for the Book of Mormon, for this gospel of Jesus Christ. And over everything, I am so grateful for the Atonement of Jesus Christ. I LOVE LIFE!!! ah. Just try it, one day, just make the extra, hard effort to think of every single tiny thing you are grateful for. It changes your life. I'm now even grateful for Crocs!

I love you all so much! Thank you for your love and prayers! Keep reading the Book of Mormon, it changes lives :)

Love, Sister Bosler

Talk to you on Monday! The temple trip changed our schedule again. pics next week, i forgot my cam!

I'm so happy to hear about the Book of Mormon. I loved your letter! But i feel the same. The BoM truly has answers to every thing; thank you for sharing! It made me cry! Maybe I've just been extra emotional today because Ive already cried a ton! haha the mission will do that to ya!

Hi Karli!!! Sister Bosler!

Well, this week has been great. First of all, dad went to Las Vegas to go to his implant course with Dr Carl Misch and guess what - he is now in the top 1% of all dentists in the nation, learning from the very best. He LOVES learning. So I went with him. We landed in LV at 10 pm and he was so tired but I really wanted to rent a car so I could go to the temple the next day. I had pre-paid for a car but THEY RAN OUT OF CARS. It took us two hours to get one and it was expensive too but I remember the prophet saying there was no sacrifice too great for the temple.

We woke up and dad went to his course and I went to the temple. It was A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.  SO BEAUTIFUL.  I can't wait to go to it with you some time!  I learned so much in the celestial room.  We are so blessed to have temples.  I almost felt self-indulgent, like I was at a Heavenly Spa or something. And to go from the Las Vegas STRIP to the temple is like night and day. I was so glad to get out of the downtown strip and into the temple.

I am in love with the Book of Mormon. I've been reading every day and now I can't wait to read each day -- it seems there is always an answer to what ever I am seeking inside. Karli, why are we so blessed?! How do people get through life without the gospel?? How do they find happiness and joy and peace?  Thank you for doing what you are doing.

Tonight the missionaries came over so we could say goodbye to Sister Reid.  She actually goes home tomorrow.  WOW. That was so fast. We will miss her sooooo much!!!

Anyway, it's now a tradition that whenever anyone leaves their mission, they come over and we give them a Precious Promises CD!!! That's what they all request. Plus I put in their gift back a ton of other little fun gifts and goodies. So fun! Thank you for doing that CD that everyone loves and wants so much!

OK - picture time!!

Note from mom:  We received a very special letter from Karli's mission president regarding her new assignment as a "trainer." It was send on letterhead adorned with cool-looking Chinese characters. He said such nice things about Karli and about her special responsibility now as well as how she will influence the new missionaries as well as the mission. He expressed his gratitude for our family and his letter was just so uplifting. We are so happy that she is having such great experiences and has such a caring and thoughtful mission president.  Much love!
